Brian Walshe has been indicted in the death of his wife Ana Walshe, who is missing since January 1, a top prosecutor said on Thursday. He was issued three indictments by a Norfolk County grand jury, District Attorney Michael W Morrissey announced.

Morrissey said these indictments serve to move the case to Norfolk Superior Court, where it will be arraigned again in the coming weeks. The date for his arraignment has not been fixed.

Who is Brian Walshe?

Brian Walshe has been charged with the first-degree murder of his wife, misleading police investigation, obstruction of justice, and improper conveyance of a human body. In Massachusetts, first-degree murder carries a compulsory sentence of life in prison without parole. Walshe is 47 years old.

His wife Ana Walshe was reportedly last seen leaving the family’s home in Cohasset, south of Boston, in the early morning hours of January 1. Brian and Ana have three children.

Ana was on her way to the airport for a flight to Washington. She was a corporate real estate manager. Her employer, Tishman Speyer, reported her missing on January 4.

For several days starting January 1, Brian made more than a dozen disturbing online searches using terms such as “dismemberment and best ways to dispose of a body,” “hacksaw best tool to dismember,” and “how long before a body starts to smell,” prosecutors said. He used an iPad belonging to one of his sons.

In addition, investigators found January 3 surveillance footage of a man resembling Brian throwing heavy trash bags into a dumpster at an apartment complex in Abington.

On January 8, during a search of a trash processing facility near Boston, investigators found trash bags that contained a hatchet, hacksaw, towels and a protective Tyvek suit, a Prada purse, boots, cleaning agents, and COVID-19 vaccination card with Ana’s name.

Walshe was charged with murder in January. He pleaded not guilty. The couple’s three young children are now in state custody.
