Police in Marshfield, Massachusetts have launched a manhunt for a man who is believed to have brutally murdered a couple at their home on Gotham Hill Drive late Tuesday night.

The accused has been identified by police as 27-year-old Christopher Keeley. Police said that the suspect is considered “armed and dangerous.”

Plymouth County District Attorney Tim Cruz said officers were called to the home for a well-being check and found the couple dead.

The victims have been identified as 70-year-old Carl Mattson and Vicki Mattson, who would have turned 71 Wednesday.

An investigation was launched into the double homicide after the bodies of the victims were found. Later, police put an alert for Keeley. Authorities said that Keeley knew the married couple.

“This appears to be a targeted attack against these two individuals,” Cruz told reporters at a news conference Wednesday morning. “The individual we are looking for, we consider to be armed and dangerous.”

However, Cruz did reveal how the couple and Keeley knew each other. He only said that Keeley was “acquaintance” of the Mattsons.

Tim Cruz also said that it is likely that the suspect changed his appearance by dying his hair red.

The motive behind the killing is also not known.

“Anyone who sees KEELEY or has information on his whereabouts is asked to contact State Police Trooper Cali Gately at 774-434-5999 or Marshfield Police Detective Tim Chiappini at 774-380-4289, or simply call 911,” Massachusetts State Police wrote on Facebook.
