Who is Chue Feng Yang?

Born in 1989, Chue Feng Yang is from Minnesota.

He livestreamed his dying moments as he locked himself in his residence, clutching a shotgun, amid a standoff with the FBI. Yang was shot dead by agents in April 2023 while on their way to arrest him for a car theft and other outstanding warrants.

A video depicts Yang sitting down on a couch while the FBI stood outside the house, a shotgun resting on his shoulder.

Prior to leaving the house with a woman who agents believed to be his girlfriend tied to him and killed, he used Facebook to livestream the negotiations.

She wasn’t hit, but she was rushed to the hospital for what appeared to be a fentanyl overdose, and her status is stable.

An apparent negotiator can be seen conversing on the phone with Yang, who also went by the name Kevin, in video.

Yang and the woman, tied together with a piece of cloth, are then seen approaching the door.

He is heard saying: ‘I love you,’ before she drops what appears to be a handgun to the ground.

The door then opens and officers can be heard shouting ‘show your hands!’

The two then move outdoors, at which point shots are fired again, Yang receiving fatal injuries.

While some officers escorted a sobbing woman away, others surrounded a person who was on the ground and appeared to be performing life-saving procedures. According to an FBI statement, “the subject was armed as he emerged from the home after barricading himself for several hours.”

“The subject was mortally wounded, and a second person needed medical attention.”

More than 160,000 individuals have viewed the webcast that was posted on Thursday.

Yang barricaded himself inside his house when a search order was issued.

Yang threatened to shoot everyone who entered, and agents could see he was equipped with a sawed-off shotgun, according to an affidavit.

He claimed to have a bomb, according to a report, but FBI agents decided he constituted a threat to the woman since he was aiming a shotgun at her head, and “lethal force was necessary to protect and preserve [her] life.”

Yang’s criminal record included convictions for making terroristic threats, breaking into homes, possessing illegal firearms, and auto theft.

Additionally, he was the subject of three active felony arrest warrants.
According to court records, he and another individual were charged with shooting a dog many times with a BB pistol while hiding it inside a stolen SUV before dumping the injured animal.
