Former Seattle Seahawks offensive tackle Duane Brown was arrested at LAX airport after authorities found a gun on him. Officials at the airport said that Brown allegedly had a concealed gun while going through security screening at Terminal 6.

The five-time Pro-Bowler, who is dubbed “one of the best left tackles in the game” by former teammate Russell Wilson, was caught after he tried to go through the security checkpoint with a gun in his luggage, according to TMZ Sports. According to the outlet, the gun wasn’t loaded.

Photos shared by TMZ showed the 36-year-old being escorted out of the airport by police in handcuffs. He has been charged with possession of a concealed firearm, according to reports.

Brown, a Virginia Tech alum, spent his first 10 seasons with the Houston Texans before playing the last five with the Seahawks. Born and raised in Richmond, Virginia, he became a free agent after his last season, during which he made the Pro Bowl.

Brown attended Hermitage High School in Virginia where he was teammates with Fontel Mines. 

After graduation from high school, Brown attended Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, where he played for Frank Beamer’s Hokies.

As a junior in 2006, Brown earned second-team All-Atlantic Coast Conference recognition and was voted state Offensive Lineman/End of the Year by the Richmond Touchdown Club.

In 2007, while in his senior season, Brown switched to left offensive tackle and earned second-team All-ACC honors and Offensive Lineman/End of the Year by the Richmond Touchdown Club for the second consecutive year.

Brown was selected by the Houston Texans in the first round (26th overall) of the 2008 NFL Draft. In 2017, Brown was traded to the Seattle Seahawks for cornerback Jeremy Lane and two draft picks (a 2018 fifth round and a 2019 second round).

On January 23, 2018, Brown was named to the 2018 Pro Bowl, replacing Philadelphia Eagles tackle Lane Johnson. Brown signed a three-year, $36.5 million contract extension with the Seahawks in July 2018. He was named Second-team All-Pro for the 2018 season.

In November 2011, Brown proposed to Devi Brown, a morning show host on Sirius XM’s Shade 45. After getting married, they ended their marriage in early 2021. Brown is father to 2 daughters and two sons.
