The House committee on the  Capitol Hill attack on January 6 2021 will treat the upcoming October 13 hearing as closing arguments ahead of the November midterm elections.

The hearing will likely seek to solidify claims that former president Donald Trump remains a danger to the country, particularly in the context of the upcoming 2024 elections. This will be the ninth hearing by the committee.

While no new in-person witnesses are expected to testify at Thursday’s hearing, CNN reported that there is a high chance that pre-taped interviews of former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, former Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao and former Secretary of Treasury Steve Mnuchin will act as newly presented evidence.
