Ella Reed, a 13-year-old girl, punched an aggressive, predatory shark to stop it from attacking her on a Florida beach on Thursday. She was sitting in shallow water in Florida when a large shark bit her in the side, and she had to fight it off.

Who is Ella Reed?
Ella Reed is a 13-year-old girl who was the victim of a shark attack on a Florida Beach recently.
“It went straight to me and got my stomach first, and I tried blocking it with my arm and my hand, and it kind of slipped in and got my finger and my arm, and it swooped around and got my leg again,” she said. “It didn’t really hurt at first because of all the adrenaline … we were so shocked.”

Ella Reed was attacked while swimming on North Hutchinson Island by what she thinks was a bull shark that was at least four feet long. The youngster claimed to have been sitting in waist-deep water with her friend when she suddenly felt severe pain.
She spoke to South Florida’s Local 10 News about the incident. “It was clear water so you never really know what’s going to happen,” said Reed, who plans on returning to the water.

Reed jumped out of the water and was taken home in a golf cart by a friend. Devin Reed, her mother, revealed to WPTV that at first, she believed it to be a prank. They transported her to the hospital, where she received sutures after they realized a shark had attacked her. Her mother expressed her admiration for her daughter’s composure during the event.
According to the University of Florida’s global shark attack file, Florida is the shark bite capital of the world. Florida accounted for 16 of the 57 unprovoked shark bites documented in 2022.
