The latest in a line of shooting victims reportedly targeted while performing routine duties was an Illinois man named William Martys who was operating a leaf blower on his property when his neighbor Ettore Lacchei allegedly shot and murdered him.

Who is Ettore Lacchei?
Ettore Lacchei, born in –, was arrested after a two-week inquiry after an Illinois man using a leaf blower on his property was reportedly shot and killed by Lacchei, becoming the latest in a string of shooting victims allegedly targeted while performing routine duties.
According to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, William Martys was discovered dead with a gunshot wound to the head on April 12 about 7:35 p.m. in his driveway in Antioch Township. At a neighborhood hospital, he was pronounced dead.
Following an investigation, authorities on Tuesday detained Ettore Lacchei, Martys’ 79-year-old neighbor, who they claim approached Martys and started a dispute with him. Police claim that during the argument, Lacchei shot and killed Martys.
“Our heartfelt condolences go out to the family and friends of William Martys, who was senselessly murdered,” Lake County Sheriff John Idleburg stated. “When it comes to seeking justice for victims, members of the sheriff’s office are tenacious.” Our Criminal Investigations Division has been working around the clock to bring Mr. Martys’ murderer to justice, and I am pleased that Mr. Martys’ family may begin the journey of closure and healing.”
Lacchei is being held without bond in the county jail on two counts of first-degree murder.
The sheriff’s office claimed in a press release that Lacchei had “various perceived grievances” with Martys.
According to a neighbor of both men who spoke to Chicago ABC station WLS, Lacchei had drawn a gun at least once before on Martys.
“No one deserves anything like that, and it’s kind of crazy to think that someone can just break like that over just a simple argument that can be fixed by talking,” said neighbor JR McCarty.

The sheriff’s office reported that investigators discovered what they believed to be a murder weapon close to Lacchei’s property border.
The family declined to comment on Martys’ passing, according to his daughter Jacquelyn Martys, who spoke to The Washington Post.
