George Robert Stephanopoulos is a News Anchor, political commentator, television host, and former Democratic advisor. Stephanopoulos is a coancher with Robin Roberts and Michael Strahan on Good America and the host of This Week, ABC‘s Sunday morning current events news program. 

Stephanopoulos has held the title of %u201CChief Anchor” of ABC News from 2014 to 2020, he was demoted to mornings only as David Muir began new duties covering breaking news in the evening hours and prime time. Before his career as a Journalist, he was an advisor to the Democratic Party. In 1988, he worked on the Michael Dukakis U. S. presidential campaign and became a leading member of Clinton%u2019s 1992 U. S. presidential campaign.

He rose to early prominence as a communications director for the 1992 presidential campaign of Bill Clinton and subsequently became White House communications director. Later, Stephanopoulos was appointed as a senior advisor for policy and strategy, before departing in December 1996. 

His role in the campaign is portrayed in the documentary film The War Room. He also served as the de facto press secretary at the outset of Clinton%u2019s Presidency.

After leaving the White House at the end of Clinton%u2019s first term, Stephanopoulos switched his career and became a political analyst for ABC News and served as a correspondent on This Week, ABC%u2019s Sunday morning public affairs program. In 2007, he received an Honorary Doctor of Laws from St. John%u2019s University in New York City

He made his debut as the guest host of Jeopardy starting on July 12, where the chief of This Week will delight contestants and viewers with his impeccable sense of humor and manners.
