Twitter CEO Elon Musk announced to release of the hidden details on the microblogging platform for censoring the “Hunter Biden story” in October 2020. Musk shared a Twitter thread from Journalist Matt Taibbi, who slowly rolled out information from what he called “Twitter files.” The thread revealed that Twitter considered requests from political groups to suppress material.

Who is Hunter Biden?

Hunter Biden, born on February 4, 1970, was born in Delaware’s Wilmington. The city is also Joe Biden’s hometown. Hunter Biden’s childhood has been marred with tragedy.

In December 1972, when he was roughly two years old, Hunter Biden was involved in a near-fatal truck accident. Neilia and Naomi Biden, who were Hunter’s mother and sister, were killed in the crash. His brother Beau Biden suffered a fractured leg. Then US-Senate hopeful Joe Biden was not in the vehicle at the time of the crash.

Hunter Biden completed his graduation from Yale Law School and Georgetown University, ending his studies in 1996. Between the two degrees, he joined the Jesuit Volunteer Corps, a Catholic group that volunteers to serve marginalised communities, according to BBC reports.

He met his first wife Kathleen Buhle at the Jesuit Volunteer Corps. The two got married in 1993 and have three children — Maisy, Naomi and Finnegan. The couple then split in 2017.

The many controversies of Hunter Biden

As previously said, Hunter Biden is no stranger to controversy. He has often made headlines, which has often impacted his father’s political career. He was earlier pulled up for alcohol and drug abuse in college, which is something he later accepted. He has also been in an out of rehabilitation centers.

He signed up for the US Navy Reserves in 2013, when his father Joe Biden was the United States Vice President. After he was sworn in at the White House, he was drug-tested on his first day at the naval base. He tested positive for cocaine use.

He has been involved in multiple other controversies. In 2017, now his ex-wife, accused Hunter of “spending extravagantly on his own interests (including drugs, alcohol, prostitutes, strip clubs, and gifts for women with whom he has sexual relations) while leaving the family with no funds to pay legitimate bills”, BBC reported.
