Journalist Matt Taibbi testified in front of the House Judiciary Committee on Thursday, where he attempted to eviscerate Twitter and other social and mainstream media outlets. He said that they had not only colluded with the federal government but also spread “disinformation.”

“Effectively, news media became an arm of a state-sponsored thought-policing system,” Taibbi, 53, told members of the Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government in his opening statement. “We learned Twitter, Facebook, Google, and other companies developed a formal system for taking in moderation ‘requests’ from every corner of government: the FBI, DHS, HHS, DOD, the Global Engagement Center at State, even the CIA.”
