Press Secretary Jen Psaki is planning to leave the White House for an MSNBC gig, several US websites reported, quoting sources.
The 42-year-old will reportedly be leaving the White House next month and will be hosting a show for NBC’s streaming platform Peacock. She will also be appearing on MSNBC‘s shows.
Who is Jen Psaki?
Psaki has been known as a political veteran and one of the top advisors in the United States as she has been associated with multiple electoral campaigns and United States Presidents.
A former nonresident scholar at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, Psaki served as the White House communications director between 2015 and 2017, when Barack Obama occupied the Oval Office.
She also served as a deputy communications director, a senior advisor and traveling press secretary for the electoral campaigns of former President Obama in 2008 and 2012.
Between the two strictly political endeavors, Psaki joined the Department of State as the official spokesperson for two years — between 2013 and 2015– when John Kerry was the United States Secretary of State.
Psaki is also popular in American media as she worked as a contributor at CNN before kicking off her political association. She has also written pieces for the Hill, Refinery29 and Ozy. According to reports from Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, Psaki has a bachelor in arts degree in English from the College of William and Mary.
Psaki joined the transition team of then-President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris in November 2020 and was made the White House Press Secretary for the administration. She went on to make her first address from the White House press briefing room on January 2020, 2021, hours after Biden and Harris were sworn in at the inauguration.
