The man who killed his wife, father-in-law, and mother-in-law in Layton, Utah, has been identified as 34-year-old Jeremy Bailey.

Bailey called 911 and informed them that he had killed three people. Cops responded to the home at 1832 E. Gentile Street around 9.45 am on Friday and found three people dead. The victims were identified as 36-year-old Anastasia Stevens, 73-year-old Donald Stevens, and 61-year-old Becky Stevens. Three of the four family dogs were also found dead.

The suspect was taken into custody outside his home.

“At 9:45 a.m. Friday morning, May 19, 2023, Layton PD dispatch received a call from a man who stated he had just killed his wife, mother-in-law, and father-in-law. Officers immediately responded to the home at 1832 E. Gentile St. The man remained on the phone with dispatchers, and was instructed to exit the home where he was taken into custody,” Lt. Travis Lyman, public information officer for the Layton Police Department, said in a press release.

Police said Donald and Becky were Jeremy’s in-laws. They lived in Nevada and had come to visit their daughter. They were planning to stay at their daughter’s home for the summer.

The exact cause of the victims’ death was not known, however, cops said there was “some indication” of gunshot wounds.

Though the motive behind the murders was not known, the suspect reportedly told the responding officers that he had an argument with his wife before killing her and his in-laws.

Neighbors of the couple told Fox13 that they were known for lively holiday decorations.

“I talked to [Bailey] a couple times. They do this ridiculous Halloween deal that’s unbelievable and then a Christmas deal that’s unbelievable,” Duane Porter told Fox 13.
