The United States District Judge Anthony Trenga acquitted a Russian analyst, Igor Danchenko, on one of five counts against him after John Durham charged him with making false statements to the FBI.

Judge Anthony Trenga said last week that he agreed with the defense, and he dismissed one of the five charges against Danchenko related to his communications with Dolan as per Reuters. Danchenko was accused of misleading the FBI by claiming he never talked to Charles Dolan, a Democratic operative, about anything in the Steele dossier, when in fact they had communicated in writing.

Trenga ruled that the criminal statutes on false statement charges, “are not to be loosely constructed”, and that the “burden is on the questioner to pin the witness down”, as per Fox News.
