Judith Ann Jarvis was arrested in Pennsylvania after authorities charged her in the 35-year-old murder of her husband, Carl Jarvis. Carl’s body was found naked, with a fatal gunshot wound to the head on August 10, 1987, after Judith called the police about a domestic dispute. According to the criminal complaint, at the time she said her husband threw a coffee pot at her, was “breaking things” and that she was scared but physically unharmed.

Who is Judith Ann Jarvis?

Judith Ann Jarvis lives in Perry County, Pennsylvania. She is 76 years old. When her husband, Carl, was found dead from a gunshot wound to the back of the head inside their home in 1987, Judith claimed that she had no idea what happened to him. She explained that the blood on her pajamas was caused by a recent goose bite. However, new DNA evidence from those very pajamas now indicates that Judith shot and killed Carl, authorities said.

During the press conference announcing Judith’s arrest on Tuesday, Perry County DA Lauren Eichelberger announced Jarvis had been charged with murder, was put on trial, and was in the Cumberland County Prison without bail following an update in the investigation.

“Since 1987, members of the Pennsylvania State Police have worked diligently to bring resolution to the family of Carl Jarvis,” Pennsylvania State Police Lt. Daryl Vankirk said during the same presser, “and we’re pleased to announce the arrest today.”

Judith Jarvis called 911 at midnight on August 10, 1987, to report a domestic dispute between her and Carl at their home on Cherry Valley Road. She told the emergency dispatcher that her husband was breaking things in the house. Judith added she was scared, but that her husband had not physically harmed her.

Upon arriving at the scene, Judith was waiting for them on the front lawn of the home. She said that she had been outside since calling 911 and was not sure where her husband was or what he was doing.
