Kendra Lara, a Boston City Council member was engaged in a car accident on Friday in Jamaica Plains district. Lara was driving an unregistered and uninsured car, despite having a revoked license.

During the accident, Lara had her seven-year-old son, Zaire, in the vehicle.
Who is Kendra Lara?
Kendra Lara is the first black woman socialist elected to the Boston city council. She is 33 years old. As per records, Lara has multiple driving offenses to her name.
Lara was raised in Boston after her parents emigrated from the Dominican Republic, and was born in the Bronx. She held the position of Director of Radical Philanthropy at Resist, a Boston-based group that Noam Chomsky founded 50 years ago, prior to her position in the Boston City Council.

She had a car accident with her son Zaire in it. The council member crashed the car through a metal fence, ran over bushes, and ultimately collided with the left side of a home located in the Jamaica Plains district.
Her son after the accident was rushed to Boston Children’s Hospital for medical attention. He received “several stitches” for his injuries but is expected to make a full recovery.
Lee Nave, Boston Chief of Staff said the councilor suffered “some cuts” as a result of the collision and sustained stitches for her wounds.
Nave in a statement said, “She braced for the airbag and then climbed in the back to get him out. It was a very scary situation for everyone involved but thankfully Councilor Lara and Zaire are expected to make a full recovery.” He claimed that the accident happened after she swerved to escape an accident.

However, the driver of the other vehicle claimed that Lara’s car was at full speed, and he was barely in motion. Police officials are still investigating the incident. Lara is expected to receive a summons to appear in court in West Roxbury on charges of driving a car while it is suspended, driving an unregistered vehicle, and driving an uninsured vehicle.
