Sam Brinton, top nuclear waste official of the Department of Energy, has been fired, The Daily Beast reported, quoting a spokesperson. As per the report, they have been accused in multiple luggage thefts. 

“Sam Brinton is no longer a DOE employee. By law, the Department of Energy cannot comment further on personnel matters,” a spokesperson for the DOE told the Daily Beast on Monday.

The 35-year-old, who is non-binary, was the deputy assistant secretary for spent fuel and waste disposition at the DOE’s Office of Nuclear Energy. They were charged with stealing a woman’s suitcase from  Minneapolis airport in September. They are also accused of theft at Las Vegas airport in July. 

Brinton was caught on CCTV cameras taking away a $320 bag from Las Vegas’s Harry Reid International Airport’s baggage claim area. As per police, it contained more than $3,500 worth of jewelry, clothing and other accessories. Brinton was appointed to his former position in June this year.

Brinton faces felony grand larceny charges in the Las Vegas
theft case and felony theft charges for the Minneapolis-St. Paul Airport
incident, where they are accused of snatching a woman’s Vera Bradley suitcase
with items inside worth $2,325 from baggage claim.

Who is Kevin Rieck, Sam Brinton’s husband?

Sam Brinton recently married their lover Kevin Rieck. They had not disclosed when they initially met. However, they have been together for quite a while, yet the specific date of their marriage is not known.

Sam expressed their disappointment on Instagram that his parents did not attend his wedding to Kevin. They also wished their husband Kevin Rieck a happy anniversary on Instagram on January 18, 2022.

Brinton was born September 12, 1988, in Perry Lowa, United States. They are 34 years old, so Kevin Rieck is likely to be in the same ballpark. The couple prefers to keep their personal lives private and doesn’t speak much about their lives straightforwardly in the media.
