According to a former employee, Kouri Richins and her late husband, Eric Richins, were the “perfect” marriage before Kouri was suspected of poisoning Eric to death last March.

Linda King used to work at a Home Depot in Summit County with Kouri, where Eric, a 39-year-old contractor and masonry business owner, would pop in every day to get materials.

By all appearances, they appeared to be the ideal pair; they were young, attractive, and nice. Eric had the finest laugh, and King would say hilarious things in the store simply to hear it, according to King.

Born in 1990, Kouri Richins was detained on May 8, 2023 for the murder of her husband, Eric Richins in March 2022. According to the Associated Press, she is accused of poisoning her husband with fentanyl at their house in Kamas, Utah, a small village in the foothills near Park City.

Kouri claimed police she made her husband a mixed drink with vodka to allegedly celebrate a recent home sale before leaving to help one of their three children sleep in their bedroom.

She stated that when she returned, she discovered him unresponsive and dialed 911.

Eric Richins had five times the deadly quantity of fentanyl in his system, according to a medical examiner.

Kouri has been charged with homicide as well as possessing GHB. According to the Associated Press, it’s a narcolepsy medicine that’s commonly used recreationally, such as at dance clubs.

The police’ allegations of their interactions with Kouri, as well as the account of a “unnamed acquaintance” who claimed to have sold the fentanyl to Kouri, are the basis for the charges.

The allegations were filed two months after Kouri appeared on local television to discuss her picture book Are You With Me?, which she wrote to comfort children who had lost someone close to them.

According to KPCW, the Richins family is well-known in Summit County. The Richins Building in Kimball Junction was named after Sheldon Richins, a member of the Richins family.

Eric’s family members alleged not long after his death that they accused his wife of murdering him. According to the warrants, “he warned them that if anything happened to him, she was to blame.”

Eric’s sister stated that he called her a few years back while on vacation in Greece. He said that one of his wife’s cocktails had made him really unwell. Ms Richins, according to the sister, attempted to kill her brother.

Eric experienced an allergic reaction after supper with his wife on Valentine’s Day last year, less than a month before his death. After taking Benadryl and administering his son’s EpiPen, he broke out in hives, was unable to breathe, and passed out.

According to court documents, Kouri purchased fentanyl pills for $900 just a few days before the dinner. She requested another $900 not long before Eric died.

Eric shifted the beneficiary of his will and his power of attorney from his wife to his sister before he died. According to the warrant, he believed his wife would “kill him for the money.”

According to the warrants, Eric was going to divorce his wife, but the divorce proceedings had not yet begun when he died.
