Maison Des Champs was arrested after he scaled Oklahoma‘s tallest building on Tuesday morning in a protest against abortion.

The 22-year-old student climbed the Devon Tower and live-streamed the act on Instagram. He was met by first responders and police and taken into custody once reached the top of the tower.

The area near the building was briefly blocked and the downtown traffic was also interrupted as several vehicles stopped to observe the climb.

“We are aware of an individual climbing the Devon Tower downtown. Please avoid the area, as a precaution, our officers have closed streets near the site,” Oklahoma City Police said in a tweet.

Who is Maison Des Champs?

Born and raised in Hartland, Michigan, Maison Des Champs is an avid rock climber who describes himself as a “Pro-Life Spiderman”. The 22-year-old moved to California at the age of 16 and fell in love with climbing. He is pursuing his finance major at the University of Nevada Las Vegas.

“I am a rock climber that has recently started climbing Skyscrapers to end abortion,” his website says.

In May this year, he was taken into custody after he climbed one of California’s tallest buildings, the Salesforce Tower in San Francisco. During his climb, he stopped to record a video that he later shared on his Instagram handle. In the video caption, he spoke against abortion and explained his reasoning for climbing the building.

“Motherhood is an amazing thing! Modern culture would like you to believe it’s not, but children are the most beautiful and special things anyone could ever make in life! Thank you to all the mothers!” he captioned the video.
