A woman from Atlantic County, Marylue Wigglesworth has been accused and arrested for the murder of her husband. She allegedly shot her 57-year-old husband, David Wigglesworth on Christmas night in Mays Landing. 

Who is Marylue Wigglesworth?

The 51-year-old, Marylue Wigglesworth was arrested for allegedly gunning down her husband, David Wigglesworth at their Mays Landing home on Christmas night, according to Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office.

The police responded at the spot, the family’s Somers Point Road residence at around 10:20 pm, where it found David Wigglesworth injured from an apparent gunshot wound. He was declared dead at the scene.

The 57-year-old victim’s wife was taken into custody on suspicion of murder and was kept at the Atlantic County Justice Facility on Monday. Police could not ascertain any motive behind the killing and they are actively asking people familiar with the family to call in for more information.

David Wigglesworth was known as “Wiggy” to friends and family. He was also active in local politics prior to his death. He was a former Republican candidate for his local township board in 2019 and remained an unsuccessful campaigner. He was also a member of the planning board and a volunteer for the Boys and Girls Club of Atlantic City.

The Wigglesworth couple has an adult son, according to WPG Talk Radio. 

Social media posts showed the seemingly happy family posing in various locations, including on a trip to Philadelphia earlier this year. They seemed happy together living a blissful life.

Friends of the couple have expressed shock and dilemma. “I cannot believe this. We’ve known Dave and Mary for years. This just can’t be true,” a friend wrote of the incident on Facebook. “This is just unimaginable to me. Such great people,” another familiar said.

A user also noted that the couple’s online posts never indicated any sign of trouble, “By his profile, it looks like they had the best life together.”
