Maye Musk, recently, tweeted that she lives in the garage whenever she visits her billionaire son Elon Musk’s house. Elon Musk, the world’s richest man at the moment, did not deny the claim. Maye, in an interview, said that Elon does not have a luxurious home. 

So whenever she visits the SpaceX CEO’s pad in Boca Chica, the location of the company’s Texas headquarters and Starbase launch site, she spends the nights sleeping in the garage. On being asked about such a sleeping arrangement, she said, “You can’t have a fancy house near a rocket site.” She further said that her son has no interest in material possessions. 

Who is Maye Musk?

Maye Musk was born on April 19, 1948, in Regina, Canada. She is a twin and one of five children. Professionally, she is a model, a dietician and an author. She has been a model for over 50 years and her image has appeared on the covers of magazines like TIME and Vogue. 

Her parents were Winnifred Josephine, a chiropractor, and Joshua Norman Haldeman, an amateur archaeologist. 

In 1969, Maye was a finalist in a South African beauty competition. She got married to Errol Musk in 1970, who is a South African engineer. Together, they have three children—Elon Musk, Kimbal Musk and Tosca Musk.

Maye had secured a master’s degree in dietetics from the University of Orange Free State in South Africa. She also secured a master’s degree in nutritional science from the University of Toronto. 

In 1979, Maye and Errol Musk decided to part ways and got divorced. Two years later, Elon started living with his father followed by Kimbal four years later. In 1989, Maye moved to Canada with her daughter Tosca. 

Maye Musk has citizenship of Canada, South America and America. 

Maye is also known as an author. She wrote a memoir titled A Woman Makes a Plan: Advice for a Lifetime of Adventure, Beauty and Success (2019).

Maye Musk appeared alongside her son Elon on Saturday Night Live, on Mother’s Day in 2021.
