First lady Dr. Jill Biden‘s press secretary, Michael LaRosa, is leaving the White House, a White House official told CNN.

The official stated that LaRosa’s resignation has been well-known within the East Wing for a few weeks and cited LaRosa’s desire to support the first lady on three high-profile foreign trips as justification for delaying his departure.

Throughout the 2019 presidential campaign, LaRosa served as Biden’s spokesperson before being named press secretary in January 2021. He received the additional title of special assistant to the President Joe Biden in September.
