Ralph Yarl is a 16-year-old black teenager who was shot in the head twice after mistakenly going to the wrong house in Kansas City, Missouri, on Thursday night. Yarl is a scholar at his high school and aspired to study chemical engineering at Texas A&M University. Ralph is also a musician and is part of his school’s marching, jazz, and competition band. He is one of the top bass clarinet players in Missouri and has been recognized as a Missouri scholar academy alumnus.
Despite being shot twice, Ralph managed to escape and run to a neighbor’s house for help. He was eventually taken to the hospital, where he is currently recovering from his injuries. The incident has been labeled a “hate crime” by Ralph’s family, who believe that race played a significant role in the shooting.
