Robin Meade, the face of HLN news, bid farewell to her audience on December, 5. In the goodbye segment of her show Morning News with Robin Meade, she thanked her colleagues and expressed her gratitude towards the audience. “The emotions this morning are of appreciation for you and for this 21-year run. You will always be my morning sunshine,” said Meade.

This comes after CNN head Chris Licht announced massive restructuring program to cut costs. 

Meade’s lay off was the consequence of the measure. Along with Meade, prominent faces such as Chris Cillizza, Alison Kosik, Alex Field, Martin Savidge suffered the same fate. 

Who is Robin Meade? 

Robin Meade, the former lead anchor of Morning News on HLN, was born on April 21, 1969. She grew up in New London, Ohio and graduated from New London High School. Afterwards she attended Malone University and Ashland University, attaining a major in radio/television production, programming and performance and a minor in political science. 

In 1992, Meade was crowned Miss Ohio and competed till the Semi Finals in Miss America pageant in 1993. 

Meagan started her career in broadcast media at WMFD-TV, where she joined as a reporter. She later went on to work at WCMH-TV in Columbus, Ohio, and at WJW-TV in Cleveland as an anchor and reporter.

She went on to join NBC Chicago affiliate WMAQ-TV, where she anchored the morning newscast, alongside serving as the general assignment correspondent for the station.

After this she joined HLN, previously known as CNN Headline news, where she anchored the coverage of Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom in the spring of 2003 for the network. 

Meade hosted Morning Express with Robin Meade, her most known segment on HLN on weekday mornings, along with Bob Van Dillen, Jennifer Westhoven, Melissa Knowles and Mike Galanos. The show ran from 2005 to 2022, until its cancellation due to CNN’s cost cutting measures

Meade also stepped into music, with the release of her country album Brand New Day in 2011. Dirty Laundry, a single by her, was released on the country radio.
