Ronald Gene Estes is an American politician, engineer and farmer who has been the Representative of the 4th Congressional District of Kansas since 2017. He is a registered Republican and is on the ballot for the Republican primaries on August 2, 2022.

His family has been in Kansas for the last five generations. Estes himself was born in the capital city of Topeka on July 19, 1956. He moved to Tennessee to attend the Tennessee Technological Univeristy, where he completed his undergraduate degree in civil engineering and then a master’s degree in business administration.

Following his education, Estes began a private sector career by working in various consulting and management roles in industries such as manufacturing, energy and even aerospace.

In 2004, he was elected as the treasurer of Sedgwick County, Kansas, and again in 2008. In 2010, the now 66-year-old ran for the position of the Kansas State Treasurer, a position he won. He ran again in 2014, winning against Carmen Alldritt a registered Democrat.

During the 2016 presidential elections, Estes rallied behind Marco Rubio but while voting as part of the Electoral College, cast his vote for former President Donald Trump.

The former civil engineer has been a supporter of lower taxes, free trade, affordable healthcare and retirement security. In addition, the politician says that he is against lobbying and has been a supporter of legislation that would prevent former members of Congress from working as a lobbyist for five years after their term ends. According to him, this legislation would “shut the revolving door and lessen the influence of special interests in Washington.”

Estes has reiterated that he is a strong believer in 2nd Amendment rights and says that he supports the rights of gun owners, hunters and sportspersons. He is a member of the NRA

The primaries for Kansas, Washington, Michigan, Missouri, Arizona and Ohio are on August 2, 2022 with the mid-term elections beginning on November 8, 2022.
