The disappearance of 14-year-old Scottie Morris from his home in Indiana has sparked an intensive search effort by law enforcement and volunteers, as concerns grow for his safety in freezing temperatures. Despite extensive searches, Scottie has not been found, and authorities continue to investigate his disappearance.

Who is Scottie Morris?

Scottie Morris is a 14-year-old boy who went missing from his family home in Indiana on the night of March 16, 2023. Authorities believe he ran away from home after an argument with his parents, and he was last seen wearing a white t-shirt with demeaning writing scrawled on it.

Despite extensive searches by over 100 volunteers and various law enforcement agencies, including helicopters, boats, and K-9 units, Scottie has not been found. The search efforts are growing increasingly bleak as authorities fear he is in extreme danger amid freezing temperatures in the town of 1,500.

The t-shirt and a subsequent picture taken by Scottie’s parents were part of a “disturbing” and “unorthodox” punishment, according to Chief Jay Turner. The police have warned against speculation spreading online and noted that Scottie’s parents are fully cooperating with them in the investigation.

Scottie was last seen walking east on Indiana Avenue wearing a white t-shirt, red and black shorts, and black sneakers despite freezing temperatures. He was also wearing glasses. According to the police, Scottie was caught on a neighbour’s doorbell camera around 8.30 pm on the day he vanished. The police have also debunked rumours that the search for Scottie has been called off.

The Eaton Police Department started its search on the night of March 16 and issued a missing person alert the following morning.

Eaton police shared a picture of Scottie on their Facebook page, showing him distraught and wearing a t-shirt with crying emojis drawn on it and writing that described him as a “liar” who had “hurt his brother.” The picture caused an uproar among online users who blurred out the disparaging writing on his shirt.

The case has gained national attention, and Scottie’s mother has made a public plea for her son to return home.
