The 17-year-old girl shot dead in Miami on Wednesday is reportedly related to popular rap artist Trina. While Trina is yet to issue a comment on the incident or confirm her relationship with the girl, relatives present at the site of the incident told the police that the 17-year-old, named ‘Baby Sugar’ is Trina’s niece, local media reported.

According to the police, the woman was shot at around midnight. When police arrived, she was declared dead.

Trina, 47, has often been called one of the “most consistent female rappers in the world”. She rose to prominence in 1998 and her debut album, ‘Da Baddest Bitch’, ranked at Number 33 on US Billboard 200.

The TMZ report further said Baby Sugar was supposed to visit the area where she was found dead but it was yet to be determined if the attack was targeted or random.

While rapper Trina has not issued a statement on the death, fans of the artist have written condolence messages on Twitter.

“Trina lost her brother, her mother and now her niece. Praying for Da Baddest and her strength today,” a fan wrote.
