Who is Sylvia Fowles?

Sylvia Fowles was born on October 6, 1985 in Florida’s Liberty City. She later attended Gulliver Preparatory High School. She pursued General Studies at Louisiana State University and graduated in 2008.

Sylvia is the daughter of Arrittio Fowles. She has four siblings Walter, Morris, Jeremy and Dorothy. The WNBA player also runs the Sylvia Fowles Family Fund, which supports the youth of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Chicago and Miami.

Sylvia Fowles has represented the American contingent at the Olympics four times — and secured a medal every time. According to Team USA’s website, Fowles won a gold medal at the Tokyo, Rio, London and Beijing Olympics. She also holds the record for being the first woman to dunk in an international competition.

She was first drafted in 2008 to Chicago Sky. She averaged 10.8 points, 7.6 rebounds per game and 2.1 blocks per game in her rookie season. However, her season was cut short after a knee injury.

After her rookie contract with Chicago Sky expired, she re-signed a multi-year deal with the team. She left after two years.
