Oscars 2021 is currently airing live on ABC live from Los Angeles. As the star-studded event moves forward and announces this year%u2019s winners, the show has no formal host. 2021 marks the third year in a row that the Oscars is underway without a host. 

Jimmy Kimmel last hosted the award show in 2018. In 2019, actor Kevin Hart stepped down as the host before the event due to sharp criticism over homophobic jokes he cracked in the past. Since then, the Academy Awards have been running its course a host successfully.

It is unknown if the format of the show would be tweaked in the future. Since 2019, the show has been opened with a movie montage instead of a monologue by one host. 

Zendaya, Halle Berry, Brad Pitt, Regina King, Reese Witherspoon, and Bong Joon Ho are this year%u2019s Academy Awards performers.
