In an incident from February 27, Theresa Cain, 46, shot three people before shooting herself at a house in Ohio, the police confirmed in a press release on Friday.
Cain took the lives of Ethan Cain, 13; Steven Cain, 50; and William Felton, 74, bizarrely at a time when the police were attempting to serve “serve civil paperwork” at the house.
The police did not immediately clarify the relationship between Cain and the victims of the suicide murder nor did they mention what the ‘civil paperwork’ was related to.
Samantha Cain, 20, who police confirmed is the daughter of Theresa Cain, suffered critical injuries during the shootings but is now “in critical but stable condition”, the police.
She could provide “vital information” and “assist detectives with answers as to motive”, they added.

Who is Theresa Cain?
Theresa Cain has been held responsible in a police announcement for the suicide-murder incident in which four people died, Cain included, and one was injured.
The police did not say whether the dead victims were related to Cain, but they identified Cain’s daughter as the injured victim and said she could help in the investigation.
Police described how the incident happened in the release.
It says the police deputies were at the Clermont County home on February 27 at 9:41 am to attempt the “civil service” when they heard “multiple gunshots” from the residence.

“Repeated attempts to contact the occupants were unsuccessful and the Sheriff’s Special Response Team responded to make entry,” it added. On entering the house, they found the four gunshot victims as well as Cain’s injured daughter Samantha.
“Samantha’s progression could provide vital information into this horrific incident which could assist detectives with answers as to motive, which remains under investigation,” the sheriff’s office said.
