Sheryl Sandberg, the former COO of Meta, married businessman Tom Bernthal on Saturday in a small wedding in Wyoming. Bernthal, a former NBC news producer, founded the consultancy firm Kelton Global.

Sandberg’s ex-husband, SurveyMonkey CEO Dave Goldberg, died in a treadmill accident in 2015. The couple had been married for 11 years and had two children.

She has written about grief and rediscovering love again with Bernthal in February 2021. Her Instagram post’s caption stated, “When I lost Dave in 2015, my whole world turned upside down. I really wasn’t sure I could ever devote my heart to another person like that. But Dave’s brother, Rob, had another idea for me. And everything changed when he introduced me to his good friend, @tom_bernthal.”

Who is Tom Bernthal?

Bernthal was born in Washington, D.C., to Joan Lurie (née Marx) and Eric Lawrence “Rick” Bernthal, a former attorney with Latham & Watkins LLP who is now the chair of the US Humane Society’s board of directors. Murray Bernthal, a musician and producer, was his paternal grandfather. His two brothers are Jon, an actor, and Nicholas, an orthopaedic surgeon and UCLA professor. Bernthal and his family are devout Jews.

Bernthal was raised in Cabin John, Maryland. He went to Sidwell Friends School.

During the Bill Clinton administration, Bernthal began his career in the White House Communication Office. Following this, he worked for NBC News as a news producer and correspondent. Bernthal worked at NBC for six years, producing pieces for the Today Show, Nightly News, Dateline, MSNBC, and CNBC, and earned three Emmy Awards for his efforts.

Bernthal relocated to Los Angeles in 2000, where he continued to work for NBC before launching his own marketing and consulting firm, Kelton Global, in 2002. He is currently the organization’s CEO and Co-President.

Bernthal is divorced from Leah Bernthal, with whom he has three children.
