Tracey Mann is the United States representative from the first congressional district of Kansas. The 45-year-old businessman will recently be seen contesting in the general elections to secure his position for another term. Interestingly, in the race for Kansas’ first congressional district, there is likely to be a single candidate each in the primaries for both the Republicans and the Democrats. Mann, the sole Republican candidate, will most likely be up against James Beard of the Democratic Party in the general elections.

A fifth-generation Kansas native, Mann worked on a farm alongside his father, brother, and grandfather while growing up. The Kansas State University graduate was involved in a number of sports while in school and college, and was even the FFA president during his senior year.

Mann’s political career began in 2010 when he ran for Kansas’ 1st congressional district in the primaries but lost to Tim Huelskamp. In the year 2018, Mann was selected as the lieutenant governor to governor Jeff Colyer, and later as his running mate. However, the two of them had to vacate their posts in 2019 after surgeon-turned-politician Colyer lost the 2018 Republican primaries.

During the 2010 elections, Mann was vocal in his demand for former President Barrack Obama to produce his birth certificate publicly. However, Mann, who is also a commercial real estate broker, later withdrew his statements, saying, “I had a football coach one time that said, ‘when you make a mistake you don’t make excuses and you move on.’” He added “I’ve moved on from that and I can’t wait to serve our state as lieutenant governor and really talk about the issues that matter.”

Major electoral victory came Mann’s way in 2020 when he defeated Bill Cifford, an Air Force veteran, in the Republican primaries, which was followed by another triumph in the general election over Democrat Kali Barnett.

In July 2022, Mann joined eleven other U.S. representatives in sending a letter to President Joe Biden, urging him to open talks against India over the latter’s alleged WTO rule violations.

While the U.S. mid-term elections are set to take place on November 8, Missouri, Kansas, Arizona, Washington, Michigan, and Ohio primaries are scheduled for August 2.
