Colorado Republican Representative Lauren Boebert expressing her gratitude revealed that her oldest son, Tyler Boebart, is expecting a baby boy with his girlfriend this year in April. The 36-year-old politician made the announcement during a ‘Moms for America’ event on Tuesday.

“I’m going to tell you all for the first time in a public setting that not only am I a mom of four boys but come April, I will be a Gigi to a brand new grandson,” she said. Boebert added that she and her husband Jayson were “so excited to welcome this new life into our family.”

Who is Tyler?

Lauren and Jayson had their first child when the former was just 18 years old, according to the Grand Junction Daily Sentinel. The couple’s kids were 14, 12, 10, and 7 in January 2020. Lauren was a teen mom and dropped out of high school in her senior year when she was pregnant with Tyler. Lauren and Jayson got married in 2005. She eventually received her GED before being elected to Congress in 2020.

During the event, Lauren shared how she responded to the news after receiving it from 17-year-old Tyler, who is the father of the baby.

“Now, any of you who have young children who are giving life, there are some questions that pop, there’s some fear that arises,” she expressed.

“Now my son, when I approached him and told him, ‘Tyler, I’m going to be a 36-year-old grandmother,’ he said, ‘Well, didn’t you make Granny a 36-year old granny?’

“I said yes, I did,” she continued, adding, “He said, ‘Well then, it’s hereditary.'”

The big announcement comes days after the politician received criticism for speaking against funding “comprehensive sex education” in public schools during a Conservative Political Action Conference event.

She spoke on her belief that schools shouldn’t teach students how to have or enjoy intercourse, regardless of their relationship. However, she did not say if she thinks “prevention or abstinence” should be taught to students or not.
