22-year-old Zion Teasley was identified as the suspect arrested for the death of a 29-year-old female hiker named Lauren Heike found on a Phoenix hiking trail.

Who is Zion Teasley?

According to a source who spoke to Fox News, Teasley faces first-degree murder charges and has a criminal history dating back to 2020, including charges of kidnapping, assault with a deadly weapon, robbery, armed robbery, and burglary. Lauren Heike’s body was discovered on April 29.

During a news conference on May 4th, deputies announced the arrest of a man in his early 20s in connection with the death of Lauren Heike, but did not reveal his identity. Earlier, Phoenix police had released a blurry image of the suspect.

The suspect was apprehended at his apartment complex, and a search warrant was executed on his apartment, according to investigators. He was then transported to Phoenix Police headquarters for interrogation.

Heike was found dead on a community hiking trail in Phoenix on April 29th, after authorities received a report of an apparent injured person around 10:30 a.m. She had gone hiking around 10 a.m. the previous day, near her home at 6500 East Libby Street. The Phoenix Police Department confirmed her identity and revealed that she had “trauma to her body.”
