Authorities reported that Devon Hoover was found shot dead over the weekend in his house in an upscale neighborhood in Detroit. It is unclear how long Hoover had been deceased before he was found.

Who was Devon Hoover?

Devon Hoover was a 53-year-old neurosurgeon from Michigan. Board-certified neurosurgeon Devon Alan Hoover had a focus on neck and back diseases, said Ascension Michigan.

According to the Detroit News, Hoover worked as a neurosurgeon for Ascension Healthcare at St. John Hospital. As reported by US News & World Report, he attended Indiana University School of Medicine and finished his residency at Detroit’s Henry Ford Hospital. He lists Goshen, Indiana, as his hometown on his personal Facebook page.

The homicide squad of the Detroit police has launched an inquiry after he was discovered dead. According to the authorities, the body was found when officers went to a house to check on a person’s well-being on Sunday night, April 23.

On Sunday evening, Devon’s body was found at his home on West Boston Boulevard in the storied Boston-Edison neighborhood. The circumstances surrounding the incident were not revealed, although police did disclose that Hoover was found dead from a gunshot wound.

The incident stunned the Boston Edison Historic District neighborhood, leaving many people to speculate about possible suspects.
“This is so insane, and I hate that it’s come to this,” a woman told a reporter. “Devon has been in this area for a very long time, and a lot of people know Devon as he’s hosted so many things for people to come by.”

In a statement grieving Devon Hoover, MD’s passing, Ascension Michigan referred to him as a “dedicated and well-respected member” of the neighborhood. “Our sincerest condolence and heartfelt prayers are with his family, friends, and fellow associates during this incredibly difficult time,” the statement read.
