Florida on Thursday evening executed 59-year-old Donald Dillbeck who is accused of stabbing a woman to death in 1990 after escaping from prison. His last meal was fried shrimp, mushrooms, onion rings, butter pecan ice cream, pecan pie, and a chocolate bar. He criticized Governor Ron DeSantis in his last words before being executed and also confessed that he hurt people when he was young.
Dillbeck was declared dead at 6.13 pm after receiving a lethal injection at Florida State Prison, the governor’s office said. He had been convicted in the murder of 44-year-old Faye Vann in Tallahassee near the state Capitol.
This was Florida’s first execution in nearly four years and the third under Republican Governor Ron DeSantis.
