Authorities said a shooting Sunday night killed three individuals, including the suspect, and injured two Phoenix police officers.

During a press conference, Sgt. Vincent Cole stated that the two officers’ injuries were not life-threatening. One cop had already been discharged from the hospital.

According to authorities, three additional people at the scene were treated for injuries and released from hospitals.

“We have a very complex and significantly large scene,” Cole added.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives is helping with the inquiry.

Deer Valley Road was closed between I-17 and 27th Avenue until around 4 p.m. Monday. The southbound I-17 frontage road between Pinnacle Peak and Deer Valley roads was closed for investigation.

Who was Isaiah Steven Williams?

The shooter, Isaiah Steven Williams, 24, was wearing tactical gear when he opened fire with a semiautomatic rifle outside a motel at 27th Avenue and Deer Valley Road, according to the Phoenix Police Department.

“Kevlar helmet, tactical vest, high-powered rifle – this individual was set on doing damage to our community,” Jeri Williams, the chief of police in Phoenix, informed the local press.

According to police, Isaiah Williams died as a result of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Surveillance video showed Isaiah Williams shooting randomly at the structure, then at a vehicle that had pulled into the motel parking lot, according to investigators.

According to authorities, a man and a woman in the vehicle were killed.

Isaiah Williams then hurled a Molotov cocktail through the restaurant window, but it did not ignite.

He opened fire on the arriving officers, striking one in the shoulder and pelting the other with shrapnel, including to the face.

According to authorities, video showed Isaiah Williams crossing the parking lot before collapsing. Williams was said to have ammo, incendiary devices, and a gas mask in addition to the weapon and tactical gear.
