Justin McIntire, Brackenridge Police Chief, was shot dead along with another police officer during a shootout near 6th Avenue and Morgan Street on Monday in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania.

Who was Justin McIntire?

Justin McIntire was the former chief of police in Brackenridge. He has been leading Brackenridge Police since 2018, according to a report by CBS news. Sources told the outlet that McIntire died at the spot, while the other officer took a bullet in his leg, and is now believed to be stable. 

CBS reported that McIntire started as a patrol officer and rose the ranks to become the chief of Brackenridge Police.

eyewitnesses told CBS news that there was an altercation between McIntire, the other officer, and the suspect. The suspect then fired bullets which hit the officers and killed McIntire.

Police have named the suspect as Aaron Lamont Swan Jr. They said that Swan Jr. carjacked and left the spot and is still at large. They added that he is injured but “armed and dangerous.”

He is driving a 2014 silver Subaru Legacy with Pennsylvania license plate GMA8620, the police said. Anyone spotting the vehicle has been asked to get in touch with the police.  

It was later reported by multiple users on Twitter that Swan Jr has been shot and arrested by the police near Homewood. Some users also claimed that he was shot dead, but there is no confirmation of that yet.
