Keano Byrne’s body has been found in the water during search efforts after he disappeared a week ago. Police have now started a murder investigation.
A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said officers searching for Byrne found the body this afternoon in Stockport. Since Byrne was reported missing, specialist teams of officers have been searching Reddish Vale Country Park area.
Who was Keano Byrne?
On March 27, Keano Byrne was reported missing from Manchester. In the early hours of Sunday, March 26, the 26-year-old was last seen leaving Northumberland Road in Brinnington before walking with another man towards Reddish Vale. Soon after Bryne was reported missing, police assumed he “may have come to harm” and arrested two men. However, the men aged 30 and 26 have now been released.

Byrne’s body was found in the water in Stockport, authorities have not yet made a formal identification. He was from Gorton.
Detective Chief Inspector Liz Hopkinson said, “Clearly this is an upsetting time for Keano’s family and they are being kept informed of the ongoing investigation as well as being supported by specialist officers.”
Hopkinson requested for anyone who was in Reddish Vale between 3:30 and 6:30 BST on March 26 or who saw Byrne after he vanished contact the police.

“We are looking for CCTV, dashcam footage, images, or any accounts of suspicious behavior around that date as this will bring us one step closer to finding out what happened to Keano and help us understand the full circumstances,” she said.
Hopkinson said specialist teams have been working to find what happened to Byrne since he was reported missing. While the investigation is still in its early stages, we remain committed to finding out what happened to Keano so his family can receive the answers they deserve, she added.
