Scott Hall was a professional wrestler known for changing the landscape of the wrestling industry after quitting WWE and launching the New World Order in World Championship Wrestling. 

Hall died at the age of 63 after being removed from life support. The wrestler had suffered several cardiac arrests at a hospital located in Georgia’s Marietta. Hall was admitted to the hospital for broken hip surgery. 

“WWE is saddened to learn that two-time WWE Hall of Famer Scott Hall has passed away. WWE extends its condolences to Hall’s family, friends and fans,” the company said in a statement.

His death was confirmed by fellow wrestler and friend, Sean Waltman. 

The wrestling icon ventured into the industry in the mid-1980s. In the 90s, Hall won several wrestling championships as his Razor Ramon character in WWE.

His most popular match includes the WrestleMania X at Madison Square Garden match with Shawn Michaels. 

Scott Hall was a 2-time inductee to WWE’s Hall of Fame. Along with a few other wrestlers, Hall changed the wrestling game forever, raising television ratings and helping establish guaranteed money for performers as a common business practice.

After switching to WCW in 1996, Hall broke the evident monopoly in the wrestling industry, helping WCW shows score high ratings and eventually beating WWE’s ratings for 83 straight weeks.

Apart from his wrestling skills, Hall was also popularly known for making crowds of viewers cheer at his two-word phrase: “hey yo.”

A few years down the line, the wrestler began to struggle with alcoholism and addiction. Expressing his struggles in several interviews, Hall would often share that he had been to rehab nearly 12 times. 

After overcoming addiction and embracing sobriety, Hall gave an emotional speech, stating, “Hard work pays off, dreams come true. Bad times don’t last, but bad guys do.”

In the next few years, Scott Hall continued to make television appearances and share his sobriety story with his fans. He was last seen on television at WrestleMania 2021 in Tampa, Florida.
