Taylen Mosley, a missing Florida boy whose mother was found dead in the family’s St Petersburg, Florida, apartment earlier this week, was found dead in the mouth of an alligator on Friday. Taylen’s father has been taken into custody on suspicion of murder.

Police Chief Anthony Holloway said that a detective shot and killed the alligator. “We didn’t want to find him this way, but at least we can bring some closure to that family now,” Holloway said at a press conference.

Taylen had celebrated his second birthday on March 12, just 19 days before being found dead. His family called him Tay-Tay and said he loved PB&J and calling his mother when she took her break at work, reported the Tampa Bay Times.

Their family asked the apartment manager to check when they couldn’t reach her on Thursday, police said. Jeffery and Taylen had just moved into the apartment complex about a month ago. Pashun Jeffrey worked at CVS.
