Donald Trump, former president and 2024-hopeful, recently hosted rapper Kanye West for dinner at his Florida residence Mar-a-Lago. West, who has changed his name to Ye, was at the former president’s home along with three other people, including Nick Fuentes, a White nationalist Holocaust denier.
Trump has been criticised on social media for associating with West and Fuentes, both of whom have come under fire for their antisemitic and racist comments.
However, the dinner in itself wasn’t extremely pleasant. Donald Trump reportedly lost his cool at Kanye West and ended up shouting at him, the singer said after the dinner.
West later said Donald Trump got angry when he said he was going to run for presidency in 2024 and asked the 45th President of the United States to be his running mate. Trump reportedly shouted at West.
Donald Trump posted later on his Truth Social: “This past week, Kanye West called me to have dinner at Mar-a-Lago. Shortly thereafter, he unexpectedly showed up with three of his friends, whom I knew nothing about. We had dinner on Tuesday evening with many members present on the back patio. The dinner was quick and uneventful. They then left for the airport.”
On the question of Kanye running for presidency, Trump said that he had told the rapper that he should definitely not run for president. “Anyway, we got along great, he expressed no antisemitism, & I appreciated all of the nice things about me on ‘Tucker Carlson’.”
Ye later tweeted that he had kept the former president waiting for his first visit to Mar-a-Lago due to rain and traffic.
Kanye’s recent antisemitic remarks caused several companies that he was affiliated with – including Adidas and Balenciaga – to sever their relationships with him. He has also made numerous inflammatory statements over years, including that slavery was ‘choice’ and ‘racism is a dated concept’.
The Anti-Defamation League has identified Nick Fuentes as a White supremacist. Several social media outlets have banned Fuentes from posting on their platform.
