“As the world has emerged from the pandemic, Celine has continued to be treated for a diagnosed medical condition that prevents her from performing. Celine is working hard on her recovery. “We do have every hope that someday soon, Celine will be able to come to all of these cities in Europe to perform for her amazing fans, but that time is simply not now.

Dion tweeted that while she is devastated by the news that she will have to postpone 42 dates of her Courage World Tour, she is “not giving up.”

“I’m so sorry to disappoint all of you once again… and even though it breaks my heart, it’s best that we cancel everything until I’m really ready to be back on stage… I’m not giving up… and I can’t wait to see you again! – Celine xx,”  she tweeted.

Dion revealed in December that she has Stiff Person Syndrome, a rare and fatal neurological condition that can result in crippling muscle spasms. Dion revealed the news in an Instagram video at the time, adding that because of her illness, she would have to postpone and reschedule a number of future concert appearances.

“I’ve been dealing with problems with my health for a long time, and it’s been really difficult for me to face these challenges and to talk about everything that I’ve been going through,” she wrote at the time in the description of the photo.

A uncommon neurological condition called Stiff Person Syndrome (SPS), often referred to as Stiff-Man Syndrome, is characterized by growing muscle stiffness and spasms. The condition primarily impacts the muscles in the trunk and limbs, resulting in mild to severe stiffness.

Although the precise cause of Stiff Person Syndrome is unclear, it is thought to be an autoimmune condition. In people with SPS, the immune system accidentally targets and harms the nerve cells that regulate muscular movement. Numerous variables, including genetic predisposition and environmental triggers like infections or stress, are known to cause this immune system malfunction.

Dion was scheduled to perform in Amsterdam in August before wrapping up the European leg of the tour in London in April 2024.
