Tyson Luke Fury, the
33-year-old British world champion faced Deontay Wilder in
one of the greatest fights ever seen in heavyweight history. The boxer retained
his WBC (World Boxing Council) title after knocking out Wilder in the 11th round of an exciting contest. He achieved the feat in front of a roaring crowd of 15,820 fans at the
T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on Saturday.

Fury has
made an incredible comeback since leaving the sport for a period of over two
years amid battles with addiction and mental illness.

In a recent interview
with The Guardian, the boxer spoke about his struggles and said, “It’s terrible. And I did retire. I was out for three years.
I was as low as any man could ever go, to be fair. Right on the edge of death
and life. What advice would I give for young athletes coming through – the best
advice I could give anybody – is get the right help straight away.”

He added, “I never seeked help for my mental struggle until 2016. I didn’t know what
was going on. I wasn’t experienced. Nobody knew around me what was going on.
Very uneducated on the matter. And as soon as I got help, the sooner I could go
back to get recovered.”

Tyson has always been vocal about mental health. He has never been shy about his
struggles which makes the man an inspiring personality in a world where boxers
are expected to put up a stereotypical ‘tough-guy’ persona.

Fury’s
remarkable powers of recovery make it impossible to count the man out until the
match is well and truly over. He got the best out of his opponent yet again,
who looked badly shaken after being knocked down thrice and receiving
continuous blows on his head.

The Briton
put Wilder on the canvas in the third round, just before finding himself on the
floor twice in the fourth round and had to find immense courage to get back into
the fight.

The 35-year-old
American needed to be sent to the hospital as a precaution after the game. Even
though he lost the fight, his ability to put up a close fight even after being
exhausted and depleted was commended by viewers across the globe.

Victory
clearly meant a lot to Fury who lent over the ropes, shed tears and prayed
silently while the crowd screamed his name.
