A man from the United States has set a world record by consuming a McDonald‘s Big Mac every day for 50 years.

According to Guinness World Records, Wisconsin resident, Don Gorske has eaten one practically every day for the past 50 years, totalling more than 32,340 as of last August.

“You may as well call Donald Gorske ‘The King of Big Macs’,” Guinness World Records said on its website.

On May 17, he ate a Big Mac at his local McDonald’s in Fond du Lac to commemorate the 50th anniversary. It’s the same location where he got his first Big Mac burger in 1972.

Mr Gorske’s adventure began on May 17, 1972, when he purchased his first automobile. He’d consume up to nine burgers a day at that time, according to Guinness World Records.

“Congrats Don on 50 years of Macs,” the burger outlet said on a board outside to greet him.

Guinness World Records revealed Mr Gorske’s burger-eating adventure in a lengthy letter on its official Instagram account.

“Yesterday, 17 May 2022, marked the 50th anniversary of him eating the McDonald’s burger almost daily (missing only eight days over the last half-century). More often than not, he eats two Big Macs a day! Donald’s record for the most Big Mac burgers eaten in a lifetime was first officially recognized in 1999 at 15,490. Since then, his record has more than doubled,” Guinness World Records said in the post.

Mr Gorske has every container of Big Macs he’s consumed, as well as every receipt, sorted in boxes and bags by year. He even keeps track of his regularity by writing it down on a daily calendar.

Despite consuming almost 30,000 burgers (563 calories per Big Mac), Mr Gorske is in good health, according to Guinness World Records. He attributes this to his daily six-mile walk.

He also claims that his other trick is eating the two burgers each day as big meals rather than snacks, and avoiding the French fries.
