Sharma scored his second fifty in the series followed by his scores of 48 and 55 from the first two matches. He also overtook Virat Kohli’s record of most T20I fifties. Before the match, both were equal on 29.
In the middle of India’s innings the scoring rate was slowed down by Mitchell Santner as he picked three quick wickets of Ishan Ksihan, Suryakumar Yadav and Rishabh Pant. It was a late blitz from all-rounder Harshal Patel and Deepak Chahar that helped India post a total of 184 runs on the board.
However, India registered a comfortable win of 76 runs in the final T20I at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata. It was a consecutive whitewash in the bilateral T20I series against the Black Caps.
