Punjab Kings skipper KL Rahul was inching towards his third century in the Indian Premier League on Monday when he was dismissed just nine runs short of the three-figure mark against Rajasthan Royals by a stunning catch from Rahul Tewatia.
Tewatia, who was the story of last season's IPL, pull off a relay catch near the boundary. In the 20th over, against RR pacer Chetan Sakariya, Rahul in the hope of clearing the boundary slogged him over the midwicket region.
However, Tewatia jumped over the ropes, caught the ball and while still in the air, he threw the ball back into the playing area. Following which he raced towards the white leather and dived forward to complete a sensational catch.
The visuals from the third umpire showcased that Tewatia and executed the entire piece of fielding without even touching the ropes.
KL Rahul departed for 91 off a meagre 50 deliveries, although not before he powered the Punjab side to a mammoth total of 221.
Rajasthan will now have a tough time chasing down the stiff total and will be hoping for some magic from Tewatia with the bat too.
