Shimron Hetmyer's stunning 53 off 25 balls went in vain as Royal Challengers Bangalore defeated Delhi Capitals by one run. Hetmyer hit four sixes and two boundaries to take Delhi on the brink of victory.
Who is Shimron Hetmyer?
West Indies' 2016 U-19 World Cup-winning captain Shimrom Hetmyer made it into the national side in April 2017. With his explosive batting, Hetmyer managed to stay in the international circuit even after recording poor scores for the Windies in his first two tours.
His ton against UAE in World Cup qualifiers translated into an 82-ball century - the fastest by a West Indies batsman - in 2019. In April 2019, ICC named Hetmyer as one of the five exciting talents making their Cricket World Cup debut. On 17 June 2019, in the match against Bangladesh, Hetmyer scored his 1,000th run in ODIs.
Shimron Hetmyer was lauded for his six-hitting ability during the Windies’ limited-overs tour of India in 2018. The left-handed batsman, who had played for Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL 2019, made his way to Delhi Capitals after being bought for INR 7.75 crores for the IPL 2020.
