The show ‘Masked Dancer’, a spin-off to the hit series ‘Masked Singer’ premiered on the Fox network on Sunday night and audiences being introduced to a different kind of mystery.
As the name suggests, the show includes 10 celebrities in masked disguises and the goal is to figure out their identity from cues based on their dance moves. Host Craig Robinson introduced audiences to the 10 contestants on the premier episode: Disco Ball, Zebra, Ice Cube, Tulip, Hammerhead, Moth, Cotton Candy, Exotic Bird, Cricket and Sloth.
According to Fox, the 10 celebrities on the first Season of the show have sold over 38 million albums worldwide, 20 Emmy Awards wins, 20 Grammy Award nominations, 10 World Dancing titles, five New York Times best-selling author titles, for Olympic gold medals and three Broadway show appearances.
Following the dance performances, judges chose their favourite and the identity of whoever came out on bottom was revealed. The judges are Paula Abdul, Ashley Tisdale, Brian Austin Green (a former ‘Masked Singer’ contestant) and Ken Jeong, who is also a ‘Masked Singer’ judge.
After their voting, Disco Ball, who danced to Bruno Mars' 'Uptown Funk', finished bottom and was revelead to be rapper-actor Ice-T. The judges' guesses were Smokey Robinson, Ving Rhames, Lionel Richie and LL Cool J.
There are nine more contestants to go for Season 1 of the show and rthe last man/woman standing will claim the grand prize, a ‘Diamond Mask Trophy’, according to media reports.
