Justice Mohan M Shantanagoudar, who was the sitting judge of the Supreme Court, died at Medanta Hospital, where he was admitted due to a lung infection, in Gurgaon, according to PTI sources. Shantanagoudar was 62.
Justice M Shantanagoudar was born on May 5, 1958 in Karnataka and he got himself enrolled as an advocate in 1980. He was appointed as Additional Judge of the Karnataka High Court in 2003. He was appointed permanent judge in 2004. Shantanagoudar was the President of Bangalore Mediation Centre and Karnataka Judicial Academy.
Shantanagoudar was later transferred to the Kerala High Court as a judge and he sworn as Acting Chief Justice in August, 2016.
He became the Chief Justice of the Kerala High Court on September 22, 2016.
Justice Shantanagoudar was elevated as a judge of the Supreme Court on February 17, 2017.
