Anne Frank, a girl born in Frankfurt, Germany, in the year 1929 led a life of horror and struggle. She along with her family had moved to Amsterdam when the Nazi Party gained power in 1939. As persecution of the Jews increased they had to hide in dark rooms. Until the family’s arrest in the year of 1949, Anne wrote in a diary the chronicle of their lives. The diary was gifted to her as a birthday present and this diary was published as a book. Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl remains one of the most widely read non-fiction works that depicts her experiences of hiding during the Nazi oppression. 

Four Films were made on account of Anne’s life. Two documentaries and two dramatizations show most of the details that were chronicled in the diary.

The Diary of Anne Frank 

It is a classic Academy award winning movie. The movie tells the story of Anne Frank and her family who went into hiding as a result Hitler and Nazi Party’s treatment in Germany during the time of Second World War. Shopkeeper Kraler helped to Jewish families to hide in his own attic. He arranged for the stay of Frank and Vaans family in that small place. Anne Frank used write about her daily life and the happenings in her diary while Peter Vaan chronicled the Nazi threats. A romance between Anee and Peter caused jealousy between Anne and his sister Margot. Eventually years later Anne’s father Otto Frank found Anne’s diary in the attic.

Anne Frank The Whole Story 

This dramatization describes the entire life of Anne Frank before the family went into hiding to the death of Anne in the Bergen- Belsen Concentration Camp. The film depicts the pre war fear, invasion of German troops in the Netherlands and Anne’s days of  growing up. The movie also shows the hard struggles and the oppression that they had to face during World War II. It won an Emmy Award in 2001 as the best miniseries. 

Anne Frank Remembered

It received the 1995 Academy Award for the best documentary. This film contains archival footage of Anne. This documentary focuses on Anne who became famous after his diary got published. This award winning documentary contains people whom the Franks knew and mostly Miep Gies the helper who had provided them shelter in the attic. 

Anne Frank The Life of a Young Girl 

It is a 1998 documentary and it speaks on the life and time of Anne Frank. This film contains interviews with her father, Miep Gies and many of Anne’s Friends. This follows a narrative style with footage of different incidents that occurred in her life.
